Catherine “Cathy” Mertic was born on January 21, 1955 to Frank and Catherine “Kay” Mertic (both deceased). She was the beloved older sister of Michael Mertic (deceased), aunt to Lindsey (Monica) and Michael, great-aunt to Mia, beloved cousin to many, and a dear friend to many whose lives she touched.
Cathy was a dedicated employee of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District for many years and later worked at CVS until her recent retirement. She took great pride in the work she did and spoke fondly of her colleagues, and she took great pride in the role she had at work.
In her youth, Cathy had a passion for roller skating at the Roller Palace, where she would compete. She also had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley, and anyone who knew Cathy certainly knew this about her. She enjoyed the simple things in life, and being in the company of her friends and family brought her great joy.
Cathy was beloved by many and touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. She was a generous soul who was always willing to be there for anyone who needed support. She gave freely of herself and had a way of making the people around her feel cared for and remembered.
Cathy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
In Cathy’s memory, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, or that you call to have a candle lit in her memory. This was a place of comfort and solitude for Cathy, and one that brought her great peace.
The family will holding a private celebration of life to honor the memory of Cathy.
